The introduction gives the reader the impression
the author thinks his historical methodology is almost "secular". My
bet is the author's seminary training at a more liberal school (SFTS) implanted
in him certain worldview ideas and the author is unaware he has multiple
assumptions which do not comport with each other. For example, he argues as if
Scripture is a final authority but then feels free to make his own revisions.
